There must be thousands of this kind of movie out there in the wild: A mostly unknown cast, with maybe one name for the draw factor, a decently written script and competent production, all done on what is clearly a limited budget. There are no effects, or if there are, they are in the camera or the editing room.

So here we have a fairly typical boy-meets-girl story, with the twist being that this guy is a pickpocket. He wants to go straight in order to be with this girl, but he owes his fence a lot of money, and in addition he’s gone and lifted a cop’s badge, so said cop is relentlessly pursuing him.

It’s engaging, with Michael Madsen as the draw factor, and oh hey, there’s Joe Pantoliano as well! Plus a surprise ending that satisfies.
