This one gets filed in the “not very likely” category. Although I’ve seen plenty of other films that depend more heavily on coincidence. Also, it helps if the viewer remembers that the central event around which the story revolves is fictionalized.
This reality-fiction dichotomy sets the stage for a morality tale about how we perceive and judge people. What are we really seeing? Is this a real memory? Or something in a character’s imagination? Who is this person? Who do we think they are? And it’s not just the Middle Easterners in traditional headdress who get this treatment – how about the guy who’s “just a tow truck driver”? Appearances can be deceptive, it seems.
